Dylan Lacroix and the Ladner Pioneers are in control of their semi-final series with Victoria after a pair of wins. They can complete a sweep on Saturday.

The Ladner Pioneers will be looking to secure their third consecutive trip to the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association finals on Saturday.

The Pioneers can complete a semi-final series sweep of the Victoria Eagles when the teams meet at the Ladner Leisure Centre at 5:30 p.m. They took a commanding 2-0 series lead with a 11-6 win on Wednesday in the provincial capital. That result came after a 10-4 game one victory 24 hours earlier.

Huge starts fuelled Ladner to victories in both outings.

It was 8-0 in the series opener before the Eagles finally beat Dan Lewis with a pair of late second period goals.

Regular season scoring champion Tyler Kirkby led the way with a goal and five assists. Ryan Keith notched a hat trick while Spencer Bromley, and Cody Nass each scored twice. Mike Berekoff and Dylan Lacroix added singles.

It was more of the same in Victoria where the visitors opened up an 8-1 lead in the middle stanza and cruised to victory behind Lacroix’s hat trick and five points from Berekoff. Nash chipped in with a goal and three helpers, Keith added a goal and two assists. Riley Phillps and Patrick Szabo each scored twice.

Eric Kratz got the start, making 42 saves.

The other series has defending WCSLA champion Nanaimo leading Coquitlam 1-0 after a 14-8 win on Wednesday.
