The Ladner Pioneers will have to be road warriors if they hope to win the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association playoff championship this season.

The Pioneers do enjoy home floor advantage for their opening round series against the Royal City Capitals, which starts Thursday night, but will be on the road for the duration of their playoff run should they advance.

Not only did a third place finish mean a tougher postseason journey, the locals will have to be out of the Ladner Leisure Centre by early next week to make way for ice installation for the coming hockey season.

Should the Pioneers get past the Royals, they are expected to play their remaining "home" games at Sungod Arena in North Delta.

The Pioneers closed out their regular season schedule with a 16-8 road loss to the second place Valley Rebels on Friday night in Abbotsford. The result left Ladner with a 13-6-1 record.

Game time Thursday is 8 p.m.
