World-class cyclists will roll into town this weekend for the 12th edition of the Tour de Delta.

"We're going to have one of our best years yet as far as teams that are attending," says race director Mark Ernsting.

Around 200 pro riders, both male and female, are expected to descend on Delta this weekend to compete in three separate races for a total of $25,000, the richest cycling purse in Canada.

It's a kick-off to B.C. Superweek, which also includes the UBC Grand Prix, Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix, Giro di Burnaby and Tour de White Rock.

Tour de Delta gets started Friday with the MK Delta Criterium in North Delta. On Saturday Ladner Village will host the Brenco Criterium. The White Spot Road Race wraps things up on Sunday.
