Another local high school basketball player will be continuing his career at Trinity Western University this fall.
Tsawwassen's Jon Pelling, who played last season at White Rock Christian Academy, is a member of the Spartans' 2012 recruitment class that already includes Ladner's Lucas Goossen.
"Jon comes from a successful program and his future looks bright," said TWU head coach Scott Allen said. "Jon is an explosive athlete with a great offensive touch."
This past season with White Rock, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard averaged 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game. For his efforts, was he named a Surrey High School All-Star.
Off the court, Pelling also participated in WRCA Guatemala Grade 11 missions trip in 2011.
"It has long been my goal in basketball to play at a high level and eventually at the CIS level," said Pelling, who plans to study business. "I'm excited and pleased to have the chance to now do that and I look forward to contributing to the Spartans for years to come."
The Spartans are coming off a 2011-12 campaign in which they finished the regular season with a 10-8 record and qualified for the Canada West playoffs by clinching the wild card position.
