Sporting Ladner FC U11 boys rep soccer team will conclude its season this weekend at the 5 District League Cup finals.

Looking for a bigger challenge, Ladner's top 10-year-olds aged up to play at the U12 Division Two level this season.

The first half of our season started slow with a couple losses, before the boys found their form and rolled to a 7-4-1 league record. The team then moved onto cup play following the Christmas break and placed second in its grouping with a 4-1-0 record, behind only the Surrey FC Strikers. The two teams will meet again in the cup final, having earlier played to a 1-1 draw in the playdowns.

"The boys have shown that they could arise to the occasion of playing older teams" said Ladner coach Jack Torok. "I was concerned when the District (determined the cup groupings), but it didn't even faze the boys, they just elevated their game from there.

"I'm very proud of them and look forward to our California trip with the team in the summer."

Sporting Ladner team members include: Evan Paterson, Braedy Euerby, Samuel Wilkinson, Kian Mackie, Jack Chadd, Matt Willford, Spencer Yesowick, Quinn Torok, Ben Kraemer, Nic Lanchester, Ravail Nijjar, Zac Sherwin, Aman Hundal, and Josh Bermel.

Corner kicks... Three other Ladner teams will also be playing in District 5 Cup finals this weekend - U17 Dragons, U15 Celtic and U15 Gunners.

U15 Celtic will meet Coastal FC on Sunday morning. The Delta rivals also face each other on Saturday in South Surrey to determine the district representative in Coastal "B" Cup play. The winner of that game will move onto the round of 16 in early April.

Three Tsawwassen teams have also advanced to District 5 finals - U18 United, U15 United and the U12 Blues.
