Delta Selects have battled their way into this summer's Provincial Cup Championships in Kamloops.

The Tsawwassen-based U16 boys soccer team defeated the Vancouver Selects 1-0 last weekend at Pebble Hill Park to earn the final Coastal berth into the championships.

It's been an impressive season for the Doug Dyck coached squad as Delta finished second in the 14-team Metro League, then went through five cup matches without conceding a goal.

The locals' bid for the League and Coastal Cups both ended with heartbreaking losses in penalty kicks.

The Coastal Cup game saw Delta fall in the eighth round of penalty kicks to league champion Richmond United two weeks ago in semi-final play.

The team includes: Grayson Hawkins (North Delta), Tyler Johnston (Tsawwassen), Sam Dyck (Tsawwassen), Kulbir Grewal (North Delta), Alex Von Schulmann (Tsawwassen), Mackenzie Connors (Tsawwassen), Jordan Buhrig (Peace Arch), Matt Hall (North Delta), Sean Kamensek (North Delta), Vikram Puri (Tsawwassen), Luke Harms (Ladner), Bryce Connors (Tsawwassen), Gagan Uppal (North Delta), Brendan Waterman (Tsawwassen), Jonah Killam (Peace Arch), Adam Bosch (Tsawwassen) and Garrett Hughes (Ladner).

The Provincial Cup Championships are slated for July 5-8.
