It was a silver medal finish for the Delta Stars after a thrilling final against Langley at the 15th annual Burnaby Female Remembrance Day Tournament.

The U18 C1 Delta Stars dug deep to bring home silver from the 15th annual Burnaby Female Hockey Remembrance Tournament.

The feat was impressive given the Stars features just 12 skaters and a goalie. Their line-up includes three players in their first season of competitive hockey.

Delta secured a spot in the championship game with wins over Vancouver C2 (1-0), Surrey C1 (1-0) and Tri-Cities C1 (4-2) while also dropped a 4-2 round-robin decision to an undefeated Langley C1 team that did not surrender a goal while scoring 25.

The Stars were more than up to the challenge in the rematch, erasing a 1-0 deficit on a beautiful unassisted effort by Taylor Murrell at the 10-minute mark of the third period. The teams eventually went to a shootout to determine the winner with Langley solving the brilliance of goaltender Alex Kay on its second attempt.

The Stars roster also features: Claire Bannister, Emily Clutterham, Ameeran Grewal, Noriko Ikari, Kaylee Inouye, Alexis Kamiya, Kylie Kamiya, Lauren Karppa, Ryan O’Dwyer, Kajul Randhawa and
Sarah Wick. The coaches are Dave Clutterham and Jeff Kay.

Affiliate players Kayli Basson, Maya Lee, Violet Stevens and Annabel Lancaster of the U15 Delta Stars were key additions throughout the tournament.
