U18 Delta Stars made it two big wins in recent weeks, this time capturing the U15 Boys Division at South Delta Minor's Party In Da House Tournament.

The South Delta U18 Stars certainly have a knack for avenging losses at the most opportune time.

The girls hockey team participated in the U15 Boys Division at South Delta Minor Hockey’s annual Party In Da House Tournament and came away with top honours thanks to a dramatic shootout win over the South Delta Lightning in Tuesday’s championship game.

It was only a couple of weeks earlier the Stars captured their Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association playoff banner by producing their first win of the campaign over regular season champion Burnaby. This time, they bounded back quickly from a couple of losses to take home top prize.

The Stars went 2-2 in the round-robin portion of the tournament, producing a pair of narrow shootout wins over South Delta C2 (7-6, 4-3) to secure a spot in the final against the unbeaten Lightning (4-0). Two of their victories were by 7-1 and 6-0 scores over the Stars.

The championship game proved to be a much tighter affair with the Lightning taking a 1-0 lead in the late stage of the opening period. It remained that way until Noriko Ikari converted a feed from Alexis Kamiya with five minutes remaining to tie the game at 1-1.

The game headed to a shootout where Taylor Murrell, Kamiya and Ikari all converted their attempts for a 3-1 advantage and the tournament title.
