Delta school board chair Laura Dixon has announced she will run for a third term in November's municipal election.

Delta school board chair Laura Dixon this morning announced she will be running for re-election in this fall's municipal election.

“I know that the public education system in Delta is second to none and I will continue my work to ensure the continued success of our students,” she said.

Dixon has served as a School Trustee in Delta for six years and has served the last two years as chairperson.

“This last term was a considerable amount of work, and fortunately the community elected three new trustees who showed outstanding commitment to the work that we do by actively participating in district events on a regular basis," she said. "It would be an honour to be able to continue to work alongside them on the new board if elected.”

The longtime Delta resident also serves as the chairperson of the Lower Mainland region of Boards of Education and the Metro Branch of the British Columbia School Trustees Association. She is actively involved in a number of Provincial Committees that support student health, school connectedness and mental health. She has continued to work locally with both the Delta Board of Education/ Delta Council Liaison Committee and the Delta Parent Advisory Council.

“Delta residents have shown time and again that our schools are truly the heart of our community and that they see investment of time and resources for the benefit of our students as the key to our future," Dixon said. "That kind of support makes all the difference in my work as a school trustee.”
