Mayoral candidate Sylvia Bishop has the Kids Matter school board slate endorsement of one of her campaign pledges.

In a joint news conference at the George Mackie Library in North Delta today, Bishop announced Kids Matter supports the Team Delta nine-point Code of Ethical Conduct.

Bishop earlier this month in a separate announcement promised to introduce a code that she called a proactive move designed to promote ethical conduct and practices during the campaign.

“I was very pleasantly surprised when the Kids Matter candidates reached out to me and asked if they could join in supporting our initiative,” said Bishop in a statement.

Fellow councillor Robert Campbell as well as newcomers Joan Hansen, Kim Kendall and Simran Walia are on Bishop’s Team Delta slate.

Incumbent trustee Bruce Reid and newcomers Randy Anderson-Fennell and Victor Espinoza are on the Kids Matter slate.

While Kids Matter supports the code of conduct, it hasn’t went so far as to join forces with Team Delta in the upcoming municipal election. The election takes place Oct. 20.
