Last Tuesday I was fortunate enough to witness several students at South Park Elementary deliver speeches.
It was not in the security of their classrooms but in the gym. There was no lectern to hang onto for comfort and no microphone to amplify their young voices. Some had notes, some didn't. Each took their turn, stood their ground and faced their peers - something that a lot of adults might have trouble doing. Even more amazing, they did it in French, a language they are learning.
For me, it was a very delightful, uplifting experience.
