In just over six weeks the Whatcom County hearing on KRPI's proposed fivetower antenna array in Point Roberts will take place in Bellingham.

The Cross-Border Coalition to Fight the Towers has hired the best lawyers in the county to represent our communities and stop this project.

The proposed radio towers will not benefit our community in any way, shape or form. Zero benefits, but lots of negatives. I knew AM antennas were the "bad boys" of radio antennas but even after reading engineering reports extensively for the past 10 months, I wasn't catching on to the main problem. I was picturing the 50,000 watts of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) coming from the tops of antennas with somehow bits of it filtering downward and invading our homes, businesses and our electronics with harmful "blanketing interference."

What I didn't realize is that with AM antennas, the signal comes out of the entire height of the antenna.

On top of that, AM radio waves love to travel along the ground as they move outwards, going through houses, trees, people, our phones (landlines, portable and cell), computers, TVs, all of our speakers, MP3 players and more.

KRPI says they will "remediate" problems, but all of the items listed above are specifically excluded by the FCC and will not be serviced by KRPI. That's because they can't be fixed.

Now it is clear why property values go down in communities near AM antennas. Radio antennas are meant to be sited on farmland, or on mountains, far away from homes and people.

We must raise another $25,000 in the next six weeks so we can finance the defence of our homes and families. We have an excellent case that we believe our legal team will win. Credentialed experts in engineering, site lines and birds are also necessary.

Please help us beat KRPI and donate today by sending a cheque to PRTA/FTT, 239-55th St., Delta, B.C., V4M 3J4, or go to http://notowers.webs.com to use a credit card or PayPal.

Please step up and be generous. Every little bit counts but if you have been blessed with more, please donate more. How dumb would it be to get stuck with these harmful antennas forever when we have a winning case?
