As a (recent) former employee of the Centre for Supportive Care, Delta Hospice Society, I am compelled to write this letter to express my utter sadness at the devolution of the Society.

When I first entered the Centre almost four years ago, immediately, I felt its calm and caring environment, sentiments also expressed by countless clients. It was a place of solace and hope. The staff and volunteers were/are some of the most committed and compassionate people I have had the good fortune with whom to work and know.

In my opinion, the Society, as it was known and appreciated, has been decimated due to the board of directors’ decision-making practices, as well as its lack of insight and foresight on the impacts of its actions/inactions.

My decision to vacate my position with the Society was advanced because of the board leadership. Most certainly, I will miss my former colleagues and the clients served, truly remarkable groups of people in so many ways.

Good luck and good wishes to the Society as it moves forward.
