Letters: The paper versus plastic debate

I firmly believe that the biggest threat to life on this planet is way too much government.
plastic bags ban delta, bc
The City of Delta two years ago took steps to reduce the use of single-use plastic items at civic facilities, but didn’t go so far as to introduce a bylaw to ban plastic bags.

So let me get this straight. I go to the grocery store and buy a kilogram of sliced ham wrapped in plastic, a loaf of bread in a plastic bag, a large plastic jug of milk, a pack of napkins wrapped in plastic, a Greek salad in a plastic container, a plastic bottle of mustard and a plastic bottle of ketchup, and they won't give me a plastic bag to carry it home because the plastic bag is bad for the environment?

I'm old enough to remember that the reason we moved from paper bags to plastic bags in the first place was to save the trees!

This has as much common sense as banning plastic drinking straws to save the world. I firmly believe that the biggest threat to life on this planet is way too much government.
