I thought the article did a great job in providing accurate figures for the old rates and the upcoming new rates for TransLink. The writer was also able to interview a spokesperson for TransLink that was able to explain the new rate increases are for new projects that TransLink is funding.
However, I felt the article was far too biased. The article was not able to address what transit users think of the new rate increases or what they think of TransLink’s 10 year Vision Phase Two.
Frequent transit users will feel the effects of the new rate increases and their opinion as to whether it should be implemented and what they think of how transit is going to use the money is valuable as well.
The article also failed to mention the projected cost for each project. It would have also been beneficial to know the annual revenue that TransLink already has and the projected revenue from the new rate hikes.
