UBCM should take stand on other issues too

Just think what could have been achieved if this group had found its voice earlier.

It could have said: . Stop paving farmland. Less than five per cent of B.C. is arable and we need every inch of it. Tell the ALC: "no more exclusions."

. Stop building ports we obviously don't need. This destroys our ecosystems that we cherish for the wellbeing of all creatures.

. Stop building highways and bridges. Instead, create cost-effective and convenient forms of transit.

. Stop destroying our wetlands. They support air quality and we want them to continue doing that.

. Stop sending enormous oil tankers through our inland waters. We don't want another Exxon Valdez tragedy.

The list could go on and on, so use the voice you have been given by voters in each municipality.
