The holidays are a time of coming together, celebrating, and spending quality time. They serve as an opportunity to reflect on the past year while looking forward to those ahead. For many, this encompasses not only contemplating personal achievements, areas for improvement, and plans for the future but also ways to express gratitude for those closest to us while giving back to the community.

After all, it’s called ‘the giving season’ for a reason.

These local Delta organizations go above and beyond to ensure that community members are safe, considered, and cared for, relying on the generosity of donors to continuously support their noble endeavors. This holiday season, consider contributing to one or multiple of these worthy causes that serve the foundation of our compassionate community.

The Delta Community Foundation would like to wish the community a happy holiday and thank all donors and volunteers for their support this past year. The generosity of donors and commitment of volunteers enabled the Foundation to give over $90,000 to charities in Delta.

The Delta Community Foundation offers diverse opportunities for individuals, families, businesses, and charitable organizations to fulfill their philanthropic goals and create a lasting legacy. Specializing in endowment funds, the foundation utilizes earnings to support local causes, pooling and professionally managing funds to maximize their impact, whether a donor makes a small donation or leaves a substantial legacy gift."The Delta Community Foundation stands out in the realm of philanthropy, offering donors a dual benefit, where they can support any Canadian cause they are passionate about through their gift, while also contributing to the well-being of our local community," describes donor David Rushton. "The decision to offer our gift initially as a Trust Fund, to be permanently endowed through a subsequent substantial gift in our Wills, reflects our commitment. Our enduring motivation has been to inspire our loved ones to embody kindness, generosity, and philanthropy.”

During this holiday season, donations of any size are appreciated and help the Delta Community Foundation support charities and non-profit organizations in Delta meet their immediate needs. Visit www.deltafoundation.org to make a donation or learn more about the Foundation’s role in the community.

Established in 1959, REACH Child and Youth Development Society is a non-profit organization based in Delta, dedicated to helping children with special needs realize their full potential. The organization offers timely, accessible, and supportive community programs and services tailored for the Delta, Surrey, and Langley areas. This holiday season, the organization is asking for your support with the REACH Gift of Speech 2023 Initiative, funding therapy sessions to help children with complex needs communicate. REACH Child and Youth Development Society's Speech-Language Pathologists not only engage directly with children, they also collaborate closely with families, assisting them in finding practical strategies to support their child's communication skills.

This collaboration is vital, as illustrated in this video from the official Canada Helps website, showcasing the progress of three-year-old Cruz, featured alongside REACH SLP Joanne and his mother, Ray Win, who express gratitude for the transformative impact of speech-language therapy services. Supporting the REACH Gift of Speech initiative makes a lasting impact on what children can achieve, fostering lifelong differences in their capabilities.

Due to the increased cost of groceries and rent and the incredible surge in the number of people needing to access their Emergency Food Cupboard, Deltassist needs your support more than ever.

The non-profit organization has compiled a list of the most needed items while advocating across social media to emphasize the crucial need for non-perishable, non-expired food items, with registrations for its Christmas program -- which provides low-income Delta residents access to an annual Toy Depot and Christmas Hampers -- officially open. Recognizing the challenge of providing gifts for teens, Deltassist encourages donors to keep 'Teen Gifts' in mind, with gift cards also being a valuable option.

In this generous community, your appreciated and necessary donations can be made by visiting www.deltassist.com. Find information on essential food items, register for the Christmas Program, or make a monetary donation by clicking the donate button.
