KinVillage aims to raise $3 million by 2025, with those monies dedicated to enhancing seniors' lives with the expansion of the already existing Day Program for Older Adults. Further funding is needed to continue, and they kindly ask for support from the community.
The exciting news is that Phase 1 of the KinVillage redevelopment, the future home of the expanded Day Program for Older Adults, is well underway. The new, larger space will increase capacity to up to 25 people and will allow enhancement of the programs and activities already in place.
Activities and programs for aging individuals are crucial for keeping them engaged and immersed in the community, and are important for mental health. This will not only improve the quality of life for seniors in Delta but also promote independence and community connection, helping to keep families together and provide respite for caregivers.
A donation of $50,000 was recently provided by GCT Global Container Terminals towards KinVillage’s "It Takes a Village" campaign to enhance and expand the Day Program for Older Adults.
“It takes a village! As a local company, celebrating over 25 years in Delta, we know we are in this together, and we must do what we can to take care of our community,” says Ben Hawk, vice president, terminal operations at GCT Deltaport. “We’re honoured to contribute to the Day Program for Older Adults run by KinVillage, creating a supportive environment where seniors can thrive.”
“We are delighted to express our heartfelt gratitude to GCT for their generous donation,” says Kristen Thomas, director of development at KinVillage. “This generous contribution will have a profound impact on our community, especially benefiting those who need this program the most, as well as their caregivers.”
Another donation made recently that is much appreciated by KinVillage is from the Tsawwassen Legion for $3,000. As well, Tsawwassen residents Anne and Tom Green donated $3000 to the "It Takes a Village" campaign, which is a clear sign of commitment to the cause and the impact the Day Program has on seniors.
“The support from GCT, the Tsawwassen Legion, Tom and Anne Green, and all our "It Takes a Village" donors enables KinVillage to continue providing essential services and enhancing the quality of life for older adults in Delta,” says Kristen Thomas. “We sincerely thank all our past and future donors who have supported this program for our community.”
An upcoming fundraising event planned for this summer will provide a fun way for the local community to get involved and to give back. KinVillage's second annual Summer Lawn Bowling Fundraiser is scheduled for July 20th at the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club, with prizes for Top Fundraising Team and Best Costume.
KinVillage needs the public’s help to reach their $3 million fundraising goal by 2025. Now is the time to donate and support the Day Program for Older Adults, a program that many Delta seniors will need at some point.
