Riding the high of an extremely successful inaugural event last year, Barnside Harvest Festival is making a triumphant return to Ladner’s Paterson Park from Sept. 13 to 15, 2024.
The festival features an epic lineup of headliners on the Main Stage, including Canadian rock powerhouses The Glorious Sons, Sam Roberts Band, Loverboy, The Trews, Sloan and Wide Mouth Mason. It will also include stellar performances by local acts, including Country artists Doc Walker and JoJo Mason, Vancouver popstars Yukon Blonde and many more across the Market Stage and Heritage Pavilion. The event promises an unforgettable experience to ring in the harvest!
Ken Malenstyn, GM of Barnside Brewing Co. – the festival’s presenting sponsor – revels in the 2023 event’s extreme success, which boasted over 23,400 attendees, with over 65% heralding from Ladner, Tsawwassen or North Delta. Malenstyn states that organizers plan to carry the momentum into this year’s event and keep the energy going.
“We’re thrilled that Barnside Harvest Festival was so well received by our community, so we’re pleased to bring this vibrant music festival experience back to Paterson Park,” he says. “We’re excited about the new line-up and look forward to promoting Delta’s agricultural heritage and celebrating the harvest of locally grown food with music, food, fun and of course - farm fresh beer!”
A legendary line-up
Building off of last year’s success, the festival has expanded its lineup to feature twice as many recording artists over three full days of live music on three stages. Genres will span modern rock, classic rock, roots, country, funk, reggae, world music and more.
Friday performances include headliners The Glorious Sons, one of Canada’s most popular rock bands with over 280 million streams and 15 Top-10 radio hits, including ‘S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun)’ and ‘Panic Attack.’ Other acts include The Trews, one of Canada’s most successful bands of the past decade, American pop band Couch and Vancouver’s Yukon Blonde.
Saturday’s sensational lineup will be headlined by none other than the legendary Sam Roberts Band. They will perform their legacy of hit songs, as well as tracks from their new album The Adventures of Ben Blank. Audiences are in for a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern rock with a powerful performance from Canadian rock royalty Sloan, who are one of the country’s most celebrated pop bands of the ’90s and beyond, as well as from Doc Walker, who are one of the most recognized country bands of the past 20 years. Canadian supergroup TOQUE will also grace the stage.
The performances on Sunday have also been expanded in 2024, with one of the country’s biggest and most-revered 80s bands, Loverboy, leading the last day of performances with their legendary hit ‘Working for the Weekend,’ along with many other favourites. They will be joined by soul-power-pop group Wide Mouth Mason, Vancouver favourites Odds, plus country artist Jojo Mason in the afternoon.
Finally, the Market Stage will include some of the best-emerging artists in the region, including XL the Band, Ashleigh Ball (Hey Ocean!), Sadé Awele, Vox Rea, Spendo, BoomDaddy, Freeborn Soul, Nickolaj, Blake Harvard, Bryce Malensytn and more.
More room to rock
Don’t let the ridiculously rocking line-up fool you. There is more to the festival than just a prime collection of performers. The event also highlights the crucial history of agriculture in the region, positioning itself as a unique celebration of the local harvest run by residents of Delta that encapsulates fantastic live music, delicious food and more.
Even its presenting sponsor Barnside Brewing Co. is a true farm-based brewery, crafting unfiltered and fresh-tasting beer using their own farm-grown ingredients.
To accommodate more room to celebrate, the venue has undergone an epic expansion, adding over 40,000 sq ft. to increase the overall capacity and allow room for twice as many bar stations and bathroom facilities, as well as larger viewing areas for both the Main Stage and Market Stage.
Make no mistake, this festival offers fun for the whole family. From an amazing artisan market featuring a wide list of commercial vendors selling jewelry, clothing, artworks and handmade items to a fantastic collection of food trucks and a kids’ fun zone with carnival games, a hay maze, storytelling, face painting and more, there is something for everyone.
Guests are also invited to bring their furry friends on Sunday for the second annual Paw Pals Electric Picnic from 12 to 5 p.m., featuring a doggy dress-up competition, obstacle course and much more.
Be sure to stop by the Charity BBQ hosted by the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society, where all proceeds will go towards local initiatives.
Early-bird tickets are available starting April 5 at 10 a.m. and include single-day, full weekend and VIP passes.
