The Ladner Business Association (LBA) is set to host its first-ever Ladner Business Expo, promising a day filled with excitement, local products and services and community connections.

Residents and visitors are enthusiastically invited to attend this free event on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harris Barn.

The Expo will feature over 45 local businesses, 40+ door prizes, food trucks, including Cookie’s Ice Co., Rat Rod’s Dogs, Bread & Cheese and Dos Amigos as well as a beer garden by Barnside Brewing.

Empowering local Ladner businesses

The Ladner Business Expo provides a unique opportunity for local businesses to showcase their products and services, generate leads and build connections.

Richard Wischnewski, president of the LBA, emphasizes the importance of this event in bringing visibility to businesses that may not possess a physical storefront.

“Many of our members don’t get the exposure of a brick-and-mortar business, so it’s important for them to be out there in public with a conference-style, exhibition-style event,” he says.

The LBA is dedicated to empowering local businesses and enriching the community. With a growing membership, the association aims to provide the best possible benefits to its members and forward business in the local community. The Expo is an affordable opportunity for all members, ensuring that participation is not hindered by cost.

Community engagement and fun in Ladner

The Expo is designed to be a fun and engaging event for the whole family, and attendees can expect plenty of activities, food trucks and opportunities to win door prizes.

“There’s going to be lots of fun,” Wischnewski says.

“We have 40 door prizes, wonderful food trucks and Barnside Brewing will be serving beer. It’s a chance to celebrate and give exposure to businesses in the community as well as give the community the opportunity to get to know the businesses.”

Local businesses from various sectors will be present, including contractors, meal services, lifestyle assistance, tech solutions and more. From large companiesto smaller, unique businesses, the Expo aims to highlight the diversity and talent within Ladner’s business community.

A platform for connection and growth

One of the primary goals of the Expo is to foster connections between local businesses and the community.

“The biggest outcome is to make a connection between people in the community and the businesses that can offer products and services to them,” Wischnewski says.

The LBA is dedicated to promoting the “shop local” initiative, encouraging residents to support and keep businesses within the community.

The association also provides numerous opportunities for networking and professional growth. Monthly Mix n’ Mingle events, summer BBQs, and Christmas parties offer unique networking opportunities that help businesses connect and flourish. Bi-weekly meetings with diverse and insightful guest speakers, as well as a regular newsletter, keep members informed and engaged.

The LBA also supports the community through events such as their annual Tree Lighting Festival, Light Up Ladner, Breakfast with Santa, Easter Parade & Egg Hunt, Art & Wine Stroll as well as sponsoring events like May Days and providing scholarships to Delta Secondary School students.

“Our board of directors this year is super excited about moving forward and benefiting their community. These are hardworking people who volunteer to help their community out,” Wischnewski says.
