The 2004 Delta Invaders travelled to Portland, Ore. earlier this month, where they ended up winning gold in the silver division at the Tournament of Roses.

The Invaders were the only Canadian team in the tournament.

“Every girl on the team played their heart out, everyone was hitting well and making plays in the field. There wasn’t one or two that carried the team, it was everyone doing their part and I was so proud,” said Invaders head coach Ed Selinger.

The Invaders dropped their opening two games, but came back to go undefeated the rest of the tournament, scoring 67 runs, with 91 hits over six games.

The pitching was consistent with 18 strikeouts over the course of the two days.

The team included: Alex Moloci, Ashley Westeringh, Kaleigh Tregaskis, Kendall Downie, Lexy Granum, Lucy Greene, Mackenzie King, Madison Stenstrom, Madison Selinger, Piper Nissen, Simrin Sandhu and Tyler Lenton. Coaches are Ed Selinger, Syd Lenton, Tayler Brown and Darren Senstrom.

Delta Fastpitch is hosting its annual tournament from May 31 to June 2.

On Saturday, June 1 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Brandrith Park, Dueck Auto Group is hosting a test drive event in support of the 2004 Invaders. Be sure to stop in for a test drive and Dueck will donate $25 towards the team.
