A two-year run on the soccer pitch doesn't get much better than what the Delta Coastal Selects have pulled off.

The regional U16 boys rep team repeated as Provincial "A" Cup champion with a 2-1 win over Surrey FC in the gold medal game. The feat comes after Delta won the Coastal Cup title back in May with a 3-0 triumph against Langley.

The feats duplicated what the team did at the U15 level a year ago. Delta Coastal also went unbeaten in Metro League regular season play with a 14-0-5 record.

The run to provincial glory actually got off to a slow start when Delta was surprised 3-1 by North Vancouver in its opening game. The boys fought their way back into gold medal contention with a 5-0 drubbing of Surrey and a 1-0 victory over Saanich FC. Surrey earned its way to the final with a 2-1 win against North Vancouver.

The Coastal Selects feature talent from South Delta, North Delta and Coastal FC soccer clubs.

The boys will head to England for a summer tour and to compete in the Nottingham Cup.

The roster includes: Markus Ference, Jackson Turner, Edgard Gutierrez, Zachary Cicek, Maxwell Thiele, Kevin Khandal, Eric Aujia, Shubh Malhotra, Markus Niebuhr, Jackson Thomson, Kelvin Sandhu, Aiden Miller, Josh Banipal, Riley Miller, Greg Moore, Rowan Childs and Trey Ference. The coaches are Joe Cicek and Rob Thomson.
