UBC Thunderbirds women’s hockey team has signed a pair of Delta Hockey Academy members as part of their 2019 recruiting class.

Goaltender Reese Hiddleston and forward Aimee Brucker were among five players to sign with the Thunderbirds earlier this month. Both played for the DHA’s Girls Prep Team this past season.

Hiddleston posted a 8-5-1 record in 14 Canadian School Sport Hockey League starts for the Wild. She had an impressive 1.84 goals against average and a .928 save percentage with three shutouts. The White Rock native joined the academy three years ago, playing a total of 42 games for the Prep and Varsity squads.

Brucker finished third in team scoring with 18 points in 27 games, including 15 goals. The Courtenay native also came over from Vancouver Island to join the DHA program in her Grade 10 year.

Brucker will be enrolling in the UBC Arts program while Hiddleston will be pursuing a degree kinesiology. Joining the DHA players as freshman next season will be Lake Country’s Sydney Neustaeter and Chanreet Bassi, along with Edmonton’s Mackenzie Kordic.

The Thunderbirds finished with a 20-9-5 record this past season, including 18-5-5 in conference play.
