Delta Islanders' 10-game home schedule in the BC Junior "A" Lacrosse League includes six on Saturday, three on Wednesday and another on a Sunday.

The Delta Junior “A” Islanders are just over a month away from launching their 2019 regular season.

The B.C. Junior “A” Lacrosse League has released its entire schedule with the Islanders opening at home on Saturday, April 27 against the Burnaby Lakers at 7 p.m.

Delta’s 10 home games will include six in their regular Saturday game slot, along with three more on Wednesday and another on Sunday. All home games will be played at the Ladner Leisure Centre.

The Islanders are looking to return to the BCJALL playoffs for the first time since winning the league title in 2016. There will be two spots into this year’s Minto Cup national championships with B.C. hosting the tournament at the Langley Events Centre in August.

Co-head coaches Kyle Goundrey and Andy Ogilvie have been leading their team through off-season workouts — with emphasis on strength and conditioning — before the team returns to the LLC in the coming weeks to open its main training camp.

A number of players are currently playing field lacrosse at the U.S. collegiate level. Among them is freshman Jake Cantlon in the University of Utah’s inaugural season. The South Delta Secondary graduate has 10 points in as many games, including nine goals.
