Ladner's Shemar Dennison captured bronze in the one and three metre springboard events at the Novice National Diving Championships last weekend in Kamloops.

It’s wasn’t long ago when Shemar Dennison jumped into his diving career. Now the Ladner teen has been recognized among the best up-and-comers in the country.

Dennison is fresh off winning a pair of bronze medalists in the one and three metre springboard events at the Novice National Championships at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Kamloops.

Now only did the Grade 10 student get to compete on the national stage for the first time, he was reunited with a number of athletes he met a year earlier at the B.C. Winter Games and created new friendships with competitors from outside the province.

Dennison trains regularly at the White Rock Academy which is based out of the Grandview Aquatic Centre in South Surrey.
