The 17-year-old Point Roberts native has signed with the UBC Thunderbirds for the 2020/21 season. The 17-year-old pitcher and shortstop had a leading role in the Blue Jays winning Baseball B.C.’s provincial championship and advancing to nationals where they captured bronze.

Heppner came through the Delta Tigers Bantam program before heading to the B.C.Junior Premier Baseball League with the Blue Jays.

He joined teammate Jonny McGill among the B.C. invites for the Toronto Blue Jays’ Seventh Annual Tournament 12 back in September.

The Thunderbirds play at the NAIA level and finished last season with a 30-22 overall record.
