Cody Tanaka has earned the opportunity to defend his title at next month’s BC Mixed Curling Championships in Vancouver.
The Tunnel Town Curling Club standout captured the “B” Event at the final qualifier held earlier this month in Mission. The 10 rink event offered two provincial berths with Team Tanaka defeating Victoria’s Team Baier 8-1.
His rink features a change in personnel from last year’s championship foursome with Megan Daniels (lead) and Kelly Shimizu (third) joining Travis Cameron and Tanaka.
Daniels has enjoyed plenty of success, along with her younger sister Sarah, coming through the Delta Thistle Curling Club.
The BC Mixed Championships will take place April 10-14 at the Vancouver Curling Club.
Tanaka is currently in Fredericton, New Brunswick where he and partner Catera Park are representing BC at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Championships. They entered Thursday’s play with a 2-1 record.
