Trying to cope with the changes that aging and illness bring to a loved one can be a difficult and stressful job. Delta Caregivers' Network is offering an education series and support group starting Thursday, Sept. 15 from 12: 30 to 2: 30 p.m. once a week for eight weeks. Cost is $25. Subjects covered include caregiver stress, communication techniques, role and lifestyle changes, accessing and using community resources, and legal and financial issues. Do you have an eReader, but don't know how to get ebooks on to it? There will be eBook workshops Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 7 to 8: 30 p.m. at the Ladner Pioneer Library and on Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 7 to 8: 30 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Library.

Family entertainer Tony Prophet will perform on Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Library and from 3: 30 to 4: 30 p.m. at the Ladner Pioneer Library. Suitable for ages 5 and up.

Ambassadors Toastmasters of Tsawwassen is a nonprofit community group supporting public speaking. We have a meeting at Tsawwassen Library at 6: 45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Come out and see how easy it is to speak in front of a supportive group! Guests and new members welcome.

The Delta Seniors Community Planning Team (DSCPT) invites the public to come and view the film screening of The Remaining Light: A documentary film about how we care for seniors on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Tsawwassen Library. The next Family Support Group will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 7 to - 8: 30 p.m. at Delta Hospital (Education Room) - Mountain View Boulevard.

There are free drop-in programs for children 0-6 years and their parent/caregiver at South Delta Family Resource Centre/Ladner ECD Hub at unit 205-5000 Bridge Street. Activities include crafts, snack, playbased activities, stories and rhyme time. Open daily from 9: 15 to 11: 30 a.m. and 12: 30 to 2: 45 p.m. Open throughout the year including summer. The Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society runs a number of units within our hospital that provide services to patients and their families as well as staff. We are currently looking for volunteers skillful in office work, merchandizing for the Dogwood Gift Shop, and food services to coordinate the Courtyard Cafe. An August birthday lunch will be held Friday, Aug. 26, at 12: 30 p.m. at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre, 5155-47th Ave. Members: $6; guests $7. Entertainment by Sincerely Yours.

SPECIAL EVENTS

OWL's open house will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3800-72nd St. tour behind the scenes, visit Owl's Nest Gifts and the Schoolhouse with several displays. Blondie's Bun Works will be there with a gourmet smokie stand.

FUND RAISERS

On Thursday, Aug. 25, join CNIB at Kings Links by the Sea in Boundary Bay for 18 holes of golf, great food and prizes. Swing 4 Sight is CNIB's newest charity golf event, and proceeds support programs and services for Lower Mainlanders who are blind or partially sighted.
