North Delta Crime Beat: Police respond to several theft complaints

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Aug. 29, 10100 Block of Nordel Court: Complainant reported the theft of tools from their RV, which was parked in a storage area since Aug. 1. Approximately $200 to $300 worth of tools were stolen. Police attended and observed two dents on the side door, but no other damage. The storage facility employee indicated the facility is open to anyone with storage and the gates are open during the day. Surveillance video did not reveal any suspects.

*Sept. 3, 11600 Block of Kittson Parkway: Complainant reported they left their vehicle in the parking lot while they walked in Watershed Park, when they returned they found their wallet had been stolen. The wallet contained $50 cash, credit and debit cards, driver’s license and other personal cards. Complainant indicated they had cancelled the bank cards and registered for new identification documents.

*Sept. 4, address withheld: Complainant reported they received an unsolicited text message offering them money in exchange for product promotion from their phone. The complainant accepted the “job offer” and transferred several small sums of money in order to receive their commission. Further funds were then transferred to the fraudulent account from the complainant’s bank. The complainant also uploaded a copy of their passport in order to open a cryptocurrency account. Call backs to all numbers were not answered. Total loss $1,000. Complainant advised to report incident to Equifax, CIBC, change all passwords, and close all social media accounts.

*Sept. 4, 11000 Block of Prospect Drive: Complainant reported their catalytic converter had been stolen sometime overnight from their vehicle parked in front of their residence. Police attended and canvassed the area with negative results.
