RCMP Air 1 helicopter deployed as search continues for missing woman at Centennial Beach

DPD say Wenyan Lan, age 54, has not returned from a planned solo excursion to go crabbing/clam digging in the Tsawwassen area.

The B.C. RCMP Air 1 helicopter is flying over Centennial Beach and Tsawwassen Tuesday afternoon as Delta Police continue their search for a Surrey woman reported missing June 14 at Centennial Beach.

DPD spokesperson Cris Leykauf told the Optimist just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon that the helicopter has been deployed along with the Coast Guard Hovercraft and a DPD drone is also up in the air around Centennial Beach.

Leykauf said these search efforts are as a result of information received by investigators.

“Officers continue to liaise with counterparts in other jurisdictions, including the U.S, to coordinate search efforts,” she said.

Wenyan Lan, age 54, was reported missing to Surrey RCMP by her family after she was believed to have gone crabbing in the late morning or afternoon last Monday.

DPD officers joined the search for Wenyan the night of June 14 when her car was located at Centennial Beach. Search and Rescue was engaged and continued searching throughout the night.

Search and Rescue resumed their efforts the morning of June 15. The Coast Guard Hovercraft also joined the search over the waters of Centennial Bay.

Lan is described as: 5’3” tall, approximately 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She is believed to be wearing hip waders and carrying gear associated to crabbing.

DPD are asking anyone who believe they may have seen Lan or have information that could aid this investigation to call police at 604-946-4411.
