Serious injuries reported in pedestrian involved collision

Delta Police officers are investigating a serious pedestrian involved collision on Thursday night.

Delta Police are on the scene of a pedestrian involved collision Thursday night.

The DPD Traffic Unit posted on its Twitter feed just before 7 p.m. that officers are investigating the collision in the 6600 block of 3rd Ave. in Boundary Bay.

Acting Insp. James Sandberg said officers responded to the collision just after 4 p.m.

"One patient has been transported to hospital with serious injuries," said Sandberg in an update provided to the Optimist just after 7 p.m. Thursday night. "Collision investigators remain on scene and are documenting and collecting evidence. Witness statements and video collection are investigative steps being taken by our collision investigation team. These statements and videos will provide evidence to investigators in determining the cause of the collision."

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or have dash camera video and were in the area to contact police at 604-946-4411.

Police say localized road closures are currently in effect.
