*Feb. 6, 1200 Block of 56th Street: Police conducting proactive patrols stopped a vehicle leaving a parking area. The driver admitted to having consumed alcohol during the evening and provided the police with two breath samples. Both samples read fail. Consequently, the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver was given a courtesy drive home. 

*Feb. 6, Police headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported receiving a phone call from a person stating they worked for Best Buy and was offering a promotional deal. The complainant provided the caller with their driver’s license information and social insurance number. The complainant made a call to Best Buy to confirm the deal and was informed that they were likely the victim of a fraud, and to report the incident to the police. Police advised the complainant to contact their bank and inform the police of any fraudulent activity. 

*Feb. 7, 5500 Block of 14B Avenue: Complainant reported that they had been informed that a package had been delivered, but when they went to the mail room, they were unable to locate the package. The surrounding area was searched, but the package valued at $17.50 was not found. Surveillance video to be examined, and police to be informed if any further information becomes available.

*Feb. 8, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: A business reported that a male concealed clothing valued at $300 in a reusable patterned bag and left the store without payment.  The male is described as South Asian, 40 years of age, slim build, wearing a blue coat with red highlights. The business indicated they had confronted the male who gave back a hoodie but left the store with other clothing concealed in the bag. Police patrol of the area proved negative. Business to provide police with surveillance video.

*Feb. 11, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: A business reported the theft of clothing by two females. Police attended, and arrested the two, recovering $550 worth of clothing. The business did not wish to pursue charges. Both females were released to their parents. The suspects were issued a one-year civil ban to the mall by security.

*Feb. 7, Police headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported, their credit card had been fraudulently used to make 13 charges for approximately $1,000 in the past month. The complainant indicated they only use Apple Pay on their phone which is linked to their credit card, and they have been unable to locate the actual card.  The credit card company confirmed the charges were fraudulent, and not connected to Apple Pay, and have begun the refunding process. The credit card has been cancelled and Equifax informed of the fraud.  

*Feb. 10, Ladner Trunk Road & 62nd Street: A citizen reported the license number of a vehicle they had observed swerving and hitting the median. Police conducted a patrol of the area and located the vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated by police and the driver admitted to consuming alcohol. Two breath samples provided by the driver both read fail.  As a result, the driver was given a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

*Feb. 11, 4600 Block of 72nd Street: Complainant reported that they had left their purse in their parked vehicle, and when they returned the purse was gone. The complainant indicated they had cancelled their credit card which had already been used to make eight fraudulent transactions for a total of $1,770. The purse also contained an additional $200 in cash. Investigation of the incident was to continue by police, on the receipt of the transactions, and the locations of the stores involved. 

*Feb. 11, 7000 Block of Hwy 17: Police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle travelling at 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The driver was issued a speeding ticket and served a seven-day vehicle impound. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver left the area in a taxi.

*Feb. 11, 5700 Block of Ladner Trunk Road: Police followed a vehicle which they observed driving in a suspicious manner. A traffic stop was initiated after police observed the driver doing an illegal U-turn at an intersection. The driver exited the vehicle and was unsteady on their feet and smelled of alcohol. Two breath samples were provided by the driver with both reading fail. Consequently, the driver was served with a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver was transported by police to Richmond as requested.
