Stephanie Wright, who owns Mystique Hair Design in White Rock, decided to put her name up against some of the best stylists and entered her work in an international competition, sponsored by La Biosthetique of Paris, that recognizes outstanding achievements in hair design.

Wright, who grew up in Tsawwassen, took third place in the national showdown.

Each contestant was required to submit before and after photos, and were judged on the cut and style as well as make up and fashion choices.

On Thursday, Sept. 15, M&M Meat Shops is inviting Canadians to say farewell to technology during dinnertime and participate in the seventh annual National Family Dinner Night. The event celebrates what matters most - spending quality time with family and friends.

Research shows that 80 per cent of Canadians admit to having at least type of electronic communication device turned on and in use during family meals and more than half of Canadians revealed that the TV stays on at meal times.

"Sitting down for a meal together can have a lasting, positive effect on open communication between children and parents and re-establish a sense of family unity," said Mac Voisin, founder of M&M Meat Shops. "It's time to unplug, at least during dinner, so that our electronic distractions don't get in the way of this special time."

M&M Meat Shops has also committed to donate $1, up to a maximum $100,000, to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada for every family that registers to participate in National Family Dinner Night.
