Utility rates on the rise
Delta council has approved a $55 increase to utility bills for 2012. Civic politicians supported the hike Monday, which sees the flat utility rate for a single-family home jump to $915 this year, up from $860 in 2011.

Vehicle fire leads Delta police to Surrey shooting suspect
A suspicious vehicle fire early Tuesday morning led Delta police to one of the suspects in a Surrey targeted shooting. At around 7:30 a.m. officers were called to the 7300-block of Bates Road in North Delta after a report of a vehicle on fire.

Driver issued driving ban after ditch rescue
A woman received a 90-day driving prohibition after landing in a Ladner ditch over the weekend. An off-duty Delta police officer driving in the 8000-block of Ladner Trunk Road Sunday came across a vehicle submerged in the ditch.
