Ladner Red Sox capped of their terrific summer baseball season with a bronze medal at the 11U A provincials in Richmond earlier this month.

Ladner Red Sox capped a terrific summer season with a podium finish at B.C. Minor Baseball’s provincial 11U A championships in Richmond.

The Red Sox secured the bronze medal with a 16-5 win over Penticton. The result came on the heels of a nail-biting 8-7 semi-final loss to season rival Cloverdale as both teams showcased some excellent pitching.

Cloverdale went on to capture gold with a 16-3 victory against Nanaimo.

Ladner had earlier reached the final four by going 3-1 in round-robin play, highlighted by wins over Kelowna, Richmond City and White Rock.

Under the direction of head coach Scott Turner, the summer season got off to a terrific start for the Red Sox with a victory at the Valley of Champions Tournament in Kelowna, overcoming some record temperatures in the process.

The team also went 6-1 in provincial qualifying play.

The roster featured: Ava Dawson, Caleb Lopez-Chu, Dayyan Samsudeen, Elijah Baxter, Isaak Toews, Jacob Scott, Maximo Toribio, Nicholas Davies, Spencer Nason, Ty Grant-Cook, Will Turner,and Wren MacDonald.

Rounding out the coaching staff were assistants Shawn Dawson,Tony Nason and Kyle Davies. The team manager was Aya Toews.
