Delta throwback: Enjoying the parade

A colourful May Days parade of the past

These May Days parades will be on hold for a while due to the pandemic.

It's throwback time.

This Delta Museum photo from the early 50s shows the May Days parade at the corner of Chisholm and Delta Streets.

Here's a decorated antique car and crowd in front of Delta Freight Lines building.

In the background, to the left, is the first municipal hall.

To the right of the hall is the Whitworth net shed.

The small house to the right of the net shed is the home built for Captain Whitworth, which later became William McKeen's butcher shop, and later a home for Rod Sweet and many more.

The home and the net shed were destroyed by fire in 1961.
