The Delta School District indicated it has no objection to staging the events

A March 1971 dance at Delview Secondary attracted a large crowd. Trouble ‘was kept to a minimum’ as security guards were stationed at all exits. School Board Trustee Marion Dallamore and Gerry Salisbury of the Parks and Recreation Commission were on hand to chaperone the event.

Let’s head back to March 1971 when teen dances were organized by a city advisory committee, as long as security was provided.
A pair of dances were to be held at Tsawwassen Junior Secondary and Delview Junior Secondary by the Parks and Recreation Commission on a trial basis. Both were co-organized by MCM & Associates, a Vancouver-based company specializing in teenage entertainment.

The company said the events would be carefully supervised with security men and dogs present.

Company spokesman M.C. McDowall said the dogs would be “subtle” and that “they are not the vicious types, although they can be if the handler requires.”
