Editor: Re: Stats Can report shows severity of crime on decline, Sept. 23 When putative experts say the crime rate is decreasing, we should be skeptical of their artificial wisdom. Data is no comfort to any victim of crime.

Some weeks ago Mayor Lois Jackson's own daughter wrote a critical letter about failed policies in North Delta, including the strip mall scene on Scott Road and the run down homes in some neighbourhoods.

Editor: It's no secret that many view the current members of Delta council as favouring development of the Southlands; however, whether they are, or not, is known for sure only to themselves and their mirrors.

Editor: Re: Debate poised to resume, Sept. 21 Southlands the Facts advises that most, if not all, of the current councillors, as well as the mayor, are receptive to Century's plan, even though public opinion is clearly in opposition.

Editor: On Sept. 13, the Corporation of Delta held an open house to present the Delta Agricultural Plan draft to the public.

Editor: Re: Tsawwassen teen rockin' it on CBC, Sept. 23 It was such a wonderful sight to open up the Optimist and see the youth of Delta being showcased in such a positive light.

We often accept the status quo without question. In that vein, I've been wondering lately why it is that public sector unions are politically active.

Editor: Re: Debate poised to resume, Sept. 21 I have always assumed the role of newspapers is to report facts so the public is made aware of things as they truly are.

Editor: This letter is for those pathetic Liberals who, grasping at straws, try to trash mouth John Cummins (one of the few honest politicians that we have). You really shot yourselves in both feet this time.

It can't be nice to have your principles and trustworthiness called into question, but John Cummins can take solace in the fact he's officially become a threat to the governing Liberals. The leader of the B.C.
