Former Olympic swimmer turned author Elaine Tanner held a successful book signing and Christmas give-away on Sunday, Dec. 15. Tanner gave away more than 100 signed copies of her delightful children’s book, Monkey Guy and The Cosmic Fairy.

Following their various awareness campaigns, equipment drives, and fundraisers throughout the past school year, Sports For Smiles recently shipped bundles of ice hockey equipment to Montreal Lake Cree Nation, in Saskatchewan.

New Rotary signs are up in the City of Delta. The three Delta clubs funded the signs at six locations in the city with the support of the City of Delta. The meeting locations were not put on the signs due to occasional changes in meeting locations.

The fourth annual Christmas pancake breakfast fundraiser is on Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the TFN Rec. Centre (1929 Tsawwassen Dr.).

The City of Delta presents a Morning with Santa on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the South Delta Rec. Centre. Take photos with Santa, enjoy a delicious breakfast, make crafts and take part in Roaming Rascals and skating. Tickets are $10.

Let’s take a step back in time to 1890 and check out the Wellington Cannery, now a park in Delta. The above photograph from the Delta Archives shows activities at the cannery, which was located at the east entrance to Canoe Pass.
