Delta throwback: Introducing yoga

Let’s head back to January 1969 when an ancient form of exercise was introduced in the Delta School District.

The above photo from the pages of the Optimist shows yoga exercises being added to the physical training classes at Delta Manor School.

The instructor, Mrs. Michael James, demonstrated a position with Jane Husband (left) and Heather Heinekey (right).

The exercises put the bodies of students into almost every possible position including a headstand.
