Editor: Re: Arrogant dog owners ignore law, letter to the editor, Jan. 18 I thought "illiterate and cannot read" meant the same thing. And this coming from me, a dog owner.

Editor: I am an agrologist and have worked in the field of food security for over 15 years. I understand the Tsawwassen First Nation is entering a new era of selfdetermination and has so many opportunities to plan for the future of its people.

Editor: Nearly 40 years have past since the Agricultural Reserve Act was approved. To some of us, who were sufficiently naive, that legislation represented the real possibility that Delta would remain a municipality with an agricultural base.

Editor: Re: Malls could create 'us' vs. 'them' situation, letter to the editor, Jan. 18 Suck it up, let's get on with it. Have you heard of competition? When businesses compete, there is variety and competition.

I switched to Delta Cable during a break in the recent Alabama-LSU national championship football game and caught Delta council and senior staff in a very serious, hourlong discussion about the rabbit peril.

Editor: Re: TFN members back mall plans, Jan. 20 Band members approve leasing rezoned farmland to commercial developers. By leasing the land instead of selling, TFN retains ownership. TFN gets the land back and it gets paid to wait.

The thought of two major malls setting up shop at the Tsawwassen First Nation has sent shockwaves through this community.

Editor: In this newspaper last July I described an accident I was involved in while travelling in the George Massey Tunnel and suggested some improvements that could be made to improve visibility and safety in the tunnel.

Editor: I'm noticing there are quite a few applications being presented to Delta council for subdivisions of properties that also include development variance permits. For example, at the public hearing of Jan.

In Christine Thompson's column ( What's a teen to do, South Delta Leader , Jan. 13, 2012 ) she laments that there are not enough entertainment options for South Delta youth. Yes, this might be a problem for some.
