Editor: Re: 'Hidden jewel' gets polishing, July 6 I am surprised in the article on tourism in Delta that no mention is made of the potential for ecotourism, other than a passing mention of Reifel (bird) refuge.

Editor: Re: Government following Huntington on new tax, letter to the editor, July 6 John Connor writes, "Now that it (the HST) is to become 10 per cent... we can say Huntington was right on the mark.

Editor: Re: Mayor makes it three in race, July 6 So we now read that our mayor intends to seek re-election, and she has already indicated in the Optimist quotes what her intentions are: she wants to move forward, not backwards.

I wonder how many Delta residents know that their local government has hired a social media consultant to put the municipality on Facebook and Twitter. The contract was for six months and pays $20,000.

Editor: Re: 'Hidden jewel' gets polishing, July 6 I hope the mayor doesn't get too enthusiastic with her "polishing" efforts. Granted we do need a new concession stand.

A couple of years back we vowed we were finally going to visit Buntzen Lake after hearing good reviews about it from so many different people.
