Editor: Delta's planning department has collected thousands of pieces or correspondence from people concerned about plans to turn the Southlands farmland into a construction zone.

Editor: Re: Running short is now OK, Murphy's Law, June 14 Your article flowed until the last few words of the very last sentence, namely: "...but didn't they just hinder their own bargaining position in the process?" There is no bargaining process.

This column was due to run this past Wednesday, June 19th, my 65th birthday.

Editor: There was a huge turnout to a so-called "emergency meeting" in Marina Gardens Estates on Monday. The school gym was full. What a great opportunity to have a debate of sorts, a back and forth between the naysayers and the developer.

Editor: I would like to voice my opposition to the Marina Gardens proposal as submitted. My opposition is based on four basic concerns: density, traffic and parking, public open spaces, and building form and character. .

Editor: We cannot imagine a proposal that more ideally meets the contending needs of the community - for more appropriate housing, for recreational use, for locally produced agricultural products - than the plan proposed for the Southlands.

Editor: Did you just get two beautiful, three-foot-high lavender plants in large, green terracotta pots ready to bloom? If so, they just got stolen from my front yard.
