The Delta/Richmond chapter of the Council of Canadians is hosting a community forum on trade deals next week in Ladner. "Trade deals can fundamentally change the way Canada does business," says chapter head Cathy Wilander.

As part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, Cubs from 1st Kirkland Ladner Pack A removed trash from the South Arm Marsh last month. Several large bags of garbage were collected to create a better environment for wildlife and birds.

The University Women's Club of South Delta gave out its annual bursaries to seven local students last week. Each year the club holds an event to raise money and then advertises in the spring for candidates for its bursaries.

Delta's Ornicha Srimokla was among 48 students from across B.C. to have her outstanding efforts recognized with a Coast Capital Savings Education Award this year.

Delta Secondary student Emily Kristinsson is spearheading a food drive for the South Delta Food Bank tomorrow. She will be at Budget Foods in Ladner Harbour Centre from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
