Given Delta South has been in the rather unique situation of being represented by an independent for the past four years, it's no surprise the issue of the riding's "voice" has been a leading topic during the first week of the provincial election cam

I don't think it will be long before we're paying for the privilege to drive on pretty much every major thoroughfare in the Lower Mainland.

By now I am sure many have heard of the bombings at the Boston Marathon. Our lives, whether directly affected or not, are in a world where tragedies and atrocities happen, and our lives, whether we like it or not, are affected by it.

Editor: For the last 23 years I have raised a family in Beach Grove, and last Thursday night, our beloved cat JC was found dead from being drowned by what we can only imagine as a deranged person who lives in our neighbourhood.

The major issue in the 2009 provincial election for Delta South was whether the riding would be better represented by a Liberal MLA and cabinet minister, or by an independent.

Editor: It's been some time since the first Earth Day took place in the United States. Each year, with a little bit more fanfare, communities acknowledge this day by putting on special events (see what Delta is doing on its website).

This movie has been screened too many times to count: The Delta school district is proposing a series of unpleasant cuts in order to offset a significant budget deficit that hangs ominously over the coming school year.

Four weeks from now, we will know the make up of the next provincial government. At the moment, the polls would indicate we will be switching over to a New Democratic government with Adrian Dix as premier.
